Culinary Cabaret Recap: 2023 Event

Laughter and excitement filled the air during a memorable evening at Holland Hospital Culinary Cabaret as guests gathered for the first in-person event since 2020. More than $196,581 was raised throughout the evening, benefitting Holland Community Health Center (HCHC).

Holland Hospital Culinary Cabaret took place on Thursday, March 2 at The Pinnacle Center in Hudsonville, hosted by emcee Jordan Carson. 450 guests and volunteers came together to sip and sample fares from favorite local restaurants and to vie for their chance to win robust silent and live auction packages that were donated by corporate sponsors, local businesses, and private donors, all while celebrating the impactful work that takes place daily at HCHC.

Funds raised from the event directly impact HCHC’s important mission, which for more than 25 years has had the singular goal of providing primary health care services for uninsured and underinsured individuals and families across the greater Holland area.

Colleen Perdok, fund development coordinator at Holland Hospital, says she was thrilled with the event’s turnout, emphasizing her gratitude for the generosity of everyone who attended. “Culinary Cabaret is Holland Community Health Center’s largest fundraiser of the year,” she said. “All of the proceeds from this event go directly to caring for patients living right here in West Michigan. The resources and services HCHC provide to the community are made possible because of the generous donors and sponsors who support us every year.”

HCHC, funded entirely by Holland Hospital, offers primary care services to over 5,900 individuals annually in the Holland, Fennville, West Olive, Saugatuck, and Douglas areas, 70% of which fall within low-income or federal poverty. HCHC is a full-service, nonprofit facility that reaches across language, cultural, and financial barriers to deliver comprehensive, affordable health care services.

Culinary Cabaret’s featured restaurants included 1983 Restaurants, Big Lake Brewing, Boatwerks Waterfront Restaurant, Butch’s Dry Dock, CityFlatsHotel Holland, Crane’s Pie Pantry Restaurant & Winery and Crane’s In The City, Fenn Valley Vineyards & Wine Cellars, Holland Cakery ‘n Sweets, The Pinnacle Center, and Uncommon Coffee Roasters.

Holland Hospital Culinary Cabaret 2023 follows a successful virtual event in 2022 that raised $124,000 for HCHC and $215,000 in 2020 during the last in-person event.

Holland Hospital Culinary Cabaret 2023 was presented by Platinum Partners Holland Hospital Physician Offices and TriMedx, and Gold Sponsors Advanced Radiology, EV Construction, and Haworth, among other sponsors. The event co-chairs included Dr. Matthew and Liz Carr, and Dr. Stephen and Elizabeth Mauger.
